What happened in Miami last year?
It's that time of the month again, Halloween! This day last year I was on an adventure in Miami by myself. I was feeling nostalgic so I rummaged through my old blog and found this post about my trip. Definitely enjoyed my solitude in this one.
This has been a long overdue post but I’d like to share with you some snippets of my short but sweet trip to Miami! I went there alone last Halloween, and stayed mostly in South Beach, at Freehand Miami Hotel. The beach was good but since I dunno how to swim, I wasn’t able to dip in for a long time. Instead, I enjoyed the hotel amenities (it was hippy by the way and very millienial!) and ofcourse did my own photoshoot lol. Did I mention I got a tan? Oh yea

Around mid-day I decided to just enjoy the pool since I couldn’t swim anyway and the waves were rough. I had lunch at their in-house restaurant. You can never take away asian food from an asian!

Eve of Halloween along Ocean drive
I had to go home around 10pm though because I was alone, it was Halloween (people are wearing huge masks like in a heist), and I kept seeing people being arrested lol I was like ohkay that’s my cue!

Saturday nights at Cotton Club
"Is there anything else you do on Saturdays aside from clubbing?" Short answer is, no! In this small island there is not much of a variety of fun activities to do on weekends apart from beaching so yeah. This is what "Caymanian kids nowadays" do most of the time. What I like about the night life here is that girls wear literally whatever they want without being judged or bodyshamed. As a woman that is one of the most liberating feelings you could possbily feel.

It also keeps my creative juices flowing esp on outfit ideas and accessorizing. In the photo above I was only wearing a gray sports bra and an office skirt - but it turned out not so bad!

Cayman Turtle Centre
Did you know that turtle meat is one of the national delicacies in Cayman? Where I'm from that would be bizarre to hear but interestingly enough it is not in this side of the world. The Cayman Turtle Centre is a conservation facility for turtles and also tourist spot here in West Bay. I've only been there once when I was 13 and never dared to go back until a couple of days ago. I got the urge to go visit due to a number of calls I receive from their Aviary department regarding problems with refrigeration. If you didn't know yet, I work under a contractor for refrigeration so everytime the farm has some problems with their coolers, ACs, or fridge, I arrange for someone to go and fix it for them. Last Sunday was THE perfect day to go visit because the weather was so cooperative; cloudy and wasn't hot at all.

Sorry to say this but the hatchery looks like a scene from a zombie horror film lmao

Cute baby turtles and actual shells from big turtle

And my favorite place in the farm: THE AVIARY. My paradise ❤ Flamigos and scarlets are the most beautiful birds imho

I didn't have that much photos to share because I was too caught up in the moment especially in the pool but hope you enjoyed the little snippets I shared. Til next time ^^

Rub-A-Dub 90's Cooler Fete
I'm not sure if cooler fetes are a thing in Asia but here in the Caribbean it is almost like every outdoor party / event there is. Basically it's a party where you can bring your own drinks and cooler. I've been to cooler fete twice before and it was fun, especially now that I learned how to drink (sush, it's only our secret). Almost everybody I know still thinks I'm a good girl, but ever since I hopped on that flight to this side of the world, I feel like I've been liberated (to be free without regrets, that is). I have no idea at all of the music they played since my exposure is only on the mainstream ones. Dancehall or soca was unkown to me until recently. I still enjoyed nevertheless, the longer I stay here, the more I feel "localized" lol!

Also one of the main reasons why I went is because I wanted to watch Red Rat! I am not a fan and I don't know any of his songs but I vividly remember that one time I visited his mother (she's my daddy's best friend btw) and then I realized he's actually a big name in the music industry in the Caribbean!

The concert was lit. A lot of people came although most of the time I felt outta place because I'm dancing and singing to songs I don't know lol. It was held at Pedro St. James Castle which is in my opinion is your neighborhood haunted house where rebellious kids go and hangout during wee hours.
